Born on April 12, 1997, in Umlazi, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, she became widely known through her work at Gagasi FM before moving to Jozi FM. In January 2026, Ntuli confirmed that her nearly two-year journey with Jozi FM had ended as she prepared to pursue new opportunities.
Penny Ntuli Early Life
Penny Ntuli was born on April 12, 1997, in Umlazi, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. She grew up in Umlazi and has spoken publicly about her upbringing and her early desire to work in radio. Her journey from a Durban township to South African radio became an important part of her public story, particularly because broadcasting was reportedly a childhood ambition.
Ntuli was raised by her mother, Thandeka Ntuli, alongside her younger brother, Kwazi Ntuli. Available biographical profiles identify her mother as an important figure in her upbringing. Growing up in Umlazi helped shape her connection to KwaZulu-Natal culture and the audiences she would later serve through broadcasting.
From an early stage, Ntuli developed an interest in communication, entertainment and radio. Her eventual broadcasting career began at community radio level before she progressed into larger media opportunities. In a 2023 interview, she described working in radio as something she had dreamed about and specifically identified getting an opportunity at Gagasi FM as a major personal achievement.
Penny Ntuli Education
Penny Ntuli attended Velabahleke High School in Umlazi, Durban, according to biographical profiles. Her secondary-school years formed the foundation for her later interest in communication and broadcasting.
After high school, Ntuli continued her studies at the Durban University of Technology (DUT). Available profiles associate her higher education with media and communication, a field closely connected to the broadcasting career she later developed.
Her connection with DUT also extended into her early professional broadcasting career. Reports indicate that she began working as a radio host at Radio DUT in 2018, giving her practical experience while building the skills that would eventually take her into commercial and community radio.
Penny Ntuli Career
Penny Ntuli’s broadcasting career began with community radio, including Radio DUT, before she worked with Vibe 94.7 FM and later Inanda FM. These early experiences gave her an opportunity to develop her on-air personality and broadcasting skills before she reached a wider audience.
A major turning point came in May 2022, when Ntuli joined Gagasi FM, a prominent KwaZulu-Natal commercial radio station. She had previously described working for Gagasi FM as one of her biggest dreams. Her time at the station helped increase her visibility nationally and contributed to her growing social-media following.
In March 2024, Ntuli attracted widespread attention after deciding not to renew her Gagasi FM contract. She publicly disclosed that the proposed arrangement would pay her R2,800 per month, equivalent to about R711.98 per show, for a Sunday slot. Gagasi FM confirmed that it could not publicly discuss employee remuneration because of confidentiality concerns.
Shortly afterward, Ntuli joined Jozi FM in Johannesburg, where she presented the Mid Morning Chat show from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and noon. Her move from a commercial station to community radio generated discussion, but Ntuli said she understood the opportunity she was pursuing in Johannesburg.
During her time at Jozi FM, Ntuli expanded her experience in a multilingual broadcasting environment. In January 2026, she announced that she was leaving the station after almost two years and said the station had helped her become a two-time award-winning radio presenter. She described the departure as a move toward new opportunities and further professional growth.
Ntuli has also explored entertainment outside radio. Her documented credits and appearances include acting, reality television, event hosting, brand work and social-media influencing. She appeared in an episode of the SABC1 drama Uzalo in 2020 and later appeared on the dating reality programme Too Hot To Be Single. She also announced a Netflix-related project through her social media.
Penny Ntuli Personal Life and Family
Penny Ntuli was raised by her mother, Thandeka Ntuli, and grew up with her younger brother, Kwazi Ntuli. Her family background has occasionally been discussed in biographical profiles, although Ntuli generally maintains a degree of privacy around her personal affairs.
Ntuli is reported to be the mother of two sons, Kendrick and Kenrick. Public biographical sources identify the boys as her children, while information about their father has not been consistently established by reliable sources. Consequently, claims about a husband or fiancé should be treated cautiously unless confirmed directly by Ntuli.
Her relationship status has attracted occasional public interest, but there is no reliable current evidence establishing that she is married or engaged as of September 2026. Some biographical sources have linked her romantically to Kaluwelwa Duma, while more recent reports have discussed dating rumours involving other public figures without establishing a confirmed marriage or engagement.
Penny Ntuli Age, Religion, Nationality, Height and Physical Appearance
Penny Ntuli is 29 years old as of September 2026, having been born on April 12, 1997. She is South African and was born in Umlazi, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. Several biographical sources identify her as a Christian, although she has not extensively documented her religious beliefs in mainstream interviews. Her exact height has not been reliably verified by a strong primary source, so numerical height figures circulating online should be treated as estimates. Public photographs and appearances show her as a Black South African woman with a distinctive fashion-conscious style, expressive personality and frequently changing hairstyles.
Penny Ntuli Social Media Presence
Social media has played a major role in Penny Ntuli’s rise as a media personality. Her Instagram account is @pennyntuli, where she shares professional updates, photographs, career announcements and aspects of her personal life. Her social-media presence also helped amplify her broadcasting work and made her career developments highly visible to South African audiences.
Ntuli has also built a substantial following on TikTok and other platforms. Her online popularity became particularly noticeable during the Gagasi FM contract controversy in 2024, when her explanation of her departure circulated widely across South African social media.
Penny Ntuli Net Worth
Penny Ntuli’s exact net worth is not publicly verified. Several entertainment and biography websites place her estimated wealth around US$100,000, while another recent estimate gives a broader range of approximately US$80,000 to US$120,000. These figures are estimates rather than audited financial information and should therefore not be treated as confirmed wealth.
Her income has come from multiple areas rather than radio alone. Her career has included radio presenting, DJ work, event hosting, acting, brand partnerships, social-media activities and other entertainment-related opportunities. She has also been associated with entrepreneurial and ambassadorial work, making it difficult to calculate her total annual income from a single salary figure.
The publicly documented Gagasi FM contract provides one concrete reference point: in 2024, Ntuli said she had been offered R2,800 per month for the proposed Sunday radio arrangement. However, that figure represented a particular contract and should not be used as her current income or as a measure of her overall earnings. Her later work at Jozi FM and other media and commercial activities mean her present income cannot be reliably calculated from that historic figure.
Legacy
Penny Ntuli’s career has become associated with the growth of a young South African broadcasting personality who moved from community radio into prominent media platforms. Her progression from Radio DUT and other smaller broadcasting opportunities to Gagasi FM demonstrated the development of a career built through successive broadcasting experiences.
Her 2024 departure from Gagasi FM became one of the most widely discussed episodes of her career. By publicly explaining the R2,800 contract offer, Ntuli brought significant attention to questions about remuneration in radio and the financial realities facing some broadcasters. The controversy generated responses from industry figures, commentators and the wider public.
Her Jozi FM chapter added another important stage to her professional story. In January 2026, she said the station had helped her become a two-time award-winning radio presenter in less than two years. Her subsequent departure signalled another transition in a career that continues to include broadcasting, entertainment, social media and other media opportunities.
Conclusion
Penny Ntuli’s biography is the story of a South African media personality who progressed from community radio in Durban to major broadcasting opportunities and a growing entertainment career. At 29, she has already worked with Radio DUT, Vibe 94.7 FM, Inanda FM, Gagasi FM and Jozi FM, while also exploring acting, brand work and social media. Her 2026 departure from Jozi FM represents the latest chapter in a career that continues to develop, and her next professional move remains an important point of interest for her audience.
